Thoughts about Jiu-Jitsu and the Universe

When you go to a lecture about nutrition and you know your own nutrition is shitty, you figure the information you’re going to get isn’t going to make you feel good. That’s pretty much what happened today. Processed food, boo; plant-based food, yay! Red meat, boo; raw vegetables, yay! I get it.

I want to be a jiu-jitsu machine (although some days the machine feels fat and lazy). I would also like to lead a healthier lifestyle, but just like getting better at jiu-jitsu, it’ll take some effort. It’s the effort that fuels the dream–no effort, no dream. I can want to be better at jiu-jitsu; I can want to be healthier, but I need to do something to move in that direction, wanting something is not enough.

Let me make a suggestion. Add one thing to your diet that she talked about. Don’t take any foods away, yet. Just commit to adding one thing. Maybe a leafy green vegetable twice per week?

Agreed with thekillerj. Maybe try adding almonds as a snack instead of something else; personally, I eat the Fresh&Easy “sweet cinnamon almonds” by the handful; good for you and doesn’t taste like dirt. Everyone wins.
