Thoughts about Jiu-Jitsu and the Universe

Ultimate Fighter finalist Damarques Johnson will be doing an MMA Seminar at West Side on Aug 21st. I’ve known Damarques for a while now and when he made it to the finals of The Ultimate Fighter, everyone I knew, including myself, was very proud of him.

I’ll let you in on something that a lot of people don’t know about Damarques–he is very nice and he loves kids. A couple days ago one of my Logan students went to see Jeremy Horn at his gym. Jeremy wasn’t there, so my student and his dad asked if Damarques was around. He wasn’t in either, but after being called he rushed down to the gym with hats and UFC cards in tow just to meet this kid. I love that; I respect that, and I appreciate that. The funny thing is, that kid came to class last night and (in the spirit of Damarques) shared his UFC cards with all his West Side classmates–that’s just cool.

Okay, now here’s my advice, if you have a chance to meet and learn from a UFC fighter, you better take advantage of it. If it’s free as part of West Side’s Grand Opening, and you don’t go, well, frankly, you’re a fool (I mean that in the nicest way).

The UFC’s Damarques Johnson, MMA seminar, West Side 2238 Washington Blvd., 1:00-2:30–you should go.
