thoughts from a jiu-jitsu company

Logo

I’ve been thinking about a logo for Tap or Die. Logos are tricky things because they are a symbolic representation of your company that’s based entirely on perception. Many times your company will be judged solely on your logo. Logos are powerful (you probably looked at the logos on this page before you started reading.)

Logos that are done right can represent your company well, while others can hurt your image. Here are some logos that have gone horribly wrong:

I don’t know what they’re selling at this company, but I can guarantee you I will never buy anything there.

This is the logo for the Brazilian Institute for Asian Studies. Now, this logo is not bad, it’s just false advertising. I’m sure some of the students at the institute were really disappointed once they enrolled in classes and found out it was an academic school.

Fonts and spacing are critical to your signage and logo. They should have put DUMB FLICKS on this store sign.

I’m going to have to meditate on this for a while, come up with some designs, and make some decisions. I’m also going to visit the Asian Studies website and see if they have any other logos I can look at, just for research purposes of course.
