I Don’t Like TapouT
Before I begin, I’d like to give my condolences to the family and friends of Charles “Mask” Lewis who recently died in a car accident; he was the founder of TapouT and has done a lot for MMA.
I still don’t like Tapout. The designs are wack for the most part and the company is responsible for some of the ugliest fight shorts in the business. I can hear the Tapout fans now gritting their teeth and bowing their necks in their little-ass-shirts. To me Tapout is a Meat-Head brand, a roided-out, metro-sexual with waxed eyebrows, $300 jeans and tight-as-hell Tapout shirt strutting around looking for some poor doofus to ground and pound; it would be funny if it weren’t so sad.
Tap or Die is a jiu-jitsu company not a MMA company and although I think Tapout has been very instrumental in helping fighters as well as the sport of MMA, I don’t like the brand. At Tap or Die we love MMA, but we live for jiu-jitsu. I guess I’m just anti-Meat-Head and I think that’s what Tapout has become—a Meat-Head Brand.
